My Favorite Interior Stair Design Ideas

The idea of having stairs in one’s home can be fun or frantic, depending upon how they are designed and created. If there is no staircase already build into the home, putting one in can be a daunting task.

Designing it can also be a challenge, especially if one does not know exactly what they want their stairs to look like. If you find yourself in this challenging position, there are several interior stair design ideas that can help you choose the one that is right for you and your home.

A very interesting interior stair design idea, especially for the weight loss centered person, is a set of stairs that labels how many calories you are burning with each step you take. This could vary, depending upon the height or the number of stairs, but it could also motivate the people living in the house to climb the stairs more often than they need to just to be able to burn more calories.

For example, you could paint the stairs a dark color, like brown, and have the calorie painted in a light color on the side of the stair. If this idea appeals to you, but you do not wish to make the calorie number stand out, paining the stair a neutral color, like beige, and then painting the calorie number in a slightly darker tint on the top of the stair would help disguise it.

Another stair design idea would be to have the stairs painted all different colors. This idea would set the house apart from any other house, especially if the children were allowed to choose the colors.

Having a rainbow staircase would add a splash of color to any home, but using neon colors would make the splash a tidal wave of excitement. Each stair could have its own color and design, if that is what you want. Be cautious, though, because the colors may clash with other themes in the home.

Utilizing old wallpaper is another interesting interior stair design idea. If you have a wallpaper design that you absolutely love, but cannot find a place for it on the walls of your home, why not use it on your stairs?

Your spouse would not be able to complain about having to see it all the time, if they did not like that design, because it is on the stairs. It would be very easy to remove as well because it is wallpaper. Just wet it and peel off. Many borders can provide this design for you so that you do not have to cut a big roll of wallpaper to your stair’s width.

A disappearing staircase is a fantastic idea, especially if you do not like to look at the stairs all the time. Having the ability to “put the stairs away” when you are not using them is innovative and fun. Not only that, but it creates more space, if you need room for friends at a get together or for family visits.
